When you open a position, you may notice your account shows a slight negative value immediately after execution—this is normal. The reason is the spread, which is the difference between the buy (ask) price and sell (bid) price. Because you enter the market at the ask price and the bid price is slightly lower, your position starts with a small unrealised loss.

 

As the market moves in your favour, this difference can quickly turn positive. This initial negative value isn’t a fee—it’s simply how pricing works in live markets.
