An investor password in MT4/MT5 acts as a read-only access password. It allows someone to monitor your account activity, including open positions and trading history, without giving them permission to place, modify, or close trades. This is commonly used when sharing performance records with analysts or potential investors.
To set or update your investor (read-only) password, follow the instructions below based on your device:
On Desktop (MT4/MT5):
Launch the MT4/MT5 platform.
Click Tools in the top menu, then select Options.
Open the Server tab.
Click Change.
Select Change Investor (Read-only) Password.
Enter your new password in both the New password and Confirm fields.
Click OK to save the changes.
On iOS:
Open the MT4/MT5 application and go to Settings.
Tap the account section at the top of the screen.
Select the trading account you want to modify.
Tap Change Password.
Choose Change Investor Password and follow the prompts.
On Android:
Tap the menu icon (≡) in the top-left corner.
Go to Manage Accounts.
Select Change Password.
Choose Change Investor Password and complete the steps.
After updating the password, anyone using the investor password will be able to view your account activity securely in read-only mode.
